Record Of The Day…Knarly Knob ‘Genus”

Artist: Knarly Knob

Track: Genus

Label: Knarly Knob Records

Release: February 27th 2017

Italian beat maker Knarly Knob talks about the inspiration behind his track ‘Genus’ featured on his latest EP from his own label ‘Knarly Knob Records’. Originally emerging from the great DigitalTraffik label, Knarly Knob records poses as his own project. We find out how it it differs from his previous releases and the appeal behind it!

1 Describe the record in five words.

Introspective, Black, Electric, Energetic, Dreamy

2 What is it about the record that will appeal to the fans?

I tried to build my own personal voyage aiming to get the audience involved. I imagined a sound path suitable for the Dance floor but above all personal and intimate. I consider this track as a storyteller, and i don’t even know why.

3 How does it differ from your last release?

My latest release has a house shade in its groover and bassline. I think it’s perfect for clubs. This track belongs to my EP which debuted under my own label. It’s much more experimental for sure and it best represents the analog world i delve into.

4 What was the inspiration for this release?

While recording genus, I watched electronic performers’ air videoclip. A perfect symbiosis between music and images. The videoclip starts with a wave-like shape, a pulse which develops electrically into infinitesimal dimensions with a surprising ending. It’s a little story, a trip starting from darkness until lightness.

5 If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?

It could easily be London’s fabric, and its underground room…Just perfect!
