Montpellier-based producer Acumen is back as our track of the day with a brand new offering called Idéal Féminin.
Riding high off the success of his latest album ‘My Girls’, the French DJ, label owner, producer has had a tremendous year, with Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice and Luarent Garnier all counting themselves as supporters with releases on esteemed labels like Get Physical and Mobilee that rightly justifies his signature sound.
Idéal Féminin is the title track off his latest EP and offers up an expert slice of premium techno. Featuring percolating synths, insistent stabs and bleeping melodies that successfully hypnotise your brain and get every synapse in your body firing.
This is another inventive and accomplished roller that set’s the tone for Acumen’s year ahead.
We caught up with the Frenchman to find out what’s good below.

Hard job, maybe Club, Moist, Freaky, Rollin, Turbulent.
What is it about the record that will appeal to the fans?
I think I tried to stay in my registry with this release. But I hope I have gone a bit further. In fact I feel more and more comfortable in the studio even if I have been producing for years. I like these songs and I’m not afraid to listen to them several times. I hope this will bring something special to my fans by way of my old tracks
How does it differ from your last release?
As I said, I’m not sure that it differs completely from my other releases. Because I believe that unconsciously I am in a certain logic. And I hope that we can recognize releases after releases my sounds. But I still tried to introduce new synths like the oberheim of arturia that time in “Ideal Feminin” for example, to use new techniques and approaches. I am also very happy to release it on a label of high quality like nonstop, managed by a great artist : Pirupa.
The flagship title is called “ideal feminin. This is partly dedicated to my wife. It may seem a bit romantic but she has considerably changed my life. I am happy every day and I hope this is seen in my music. We could say that these three tracks represent a little the facets of her personality which is very varied and complex

If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?
It will be very soon in my new live act. I made a pause in 2016. but i will make a new show in 2017 with serious gigs. i will also add a new musician on the scene who will play some keyboards. so stay tuned !
