Record Of The Day…Clandestino ‘Another Horizon EP’

We have the pleasure to sit down with the Northern trio that is Clandestino ahead of their latest EP ‘Another Horizon’. Known for there monthy shows on the famed KMAH Radio as well as a string of releases to date for Tronik Youth’s Nein Records imprint, Yam Who’s Midnight Riot, Is it Balaearic? Recordings and Join Our Club Records, this record does not let down…

Describe the record in five words.

The Best Clandestino Release Yet, or if we go into super braggart mode Really Really Fucking Great Music

What is it about the record that will appeal to the fans?

It’s got those heady days classic house feels but with a contemporary approach. Its hopefully a record that will appeal over summer, all the tracks have an emotive, hazy feel good vibe about them which would be best experienced outside just as the sun drops over the horizon

How does it differ from your last release?

This is actually the first release by ourselves on our own label, the previous releases have had tracks or remixes by us but this is 100% Clandestino produced. Musically, this release is a couple of tracks we’ve had lined up for a little while that have a definite summery vibe to them perfect for a release at this time of year. The digital only track ‘A Mighty Memory’ is a more blissed out cut which is a kind of antidote to the two mote dance-floor focused tracks.

What was the inspiration for this release?

The main inspiration for this release came from listening to a range of old mixtapes from back in the day. Recordings from Ku Klub in the late 80’s, and early proto-house mixes. We wanted to capture the essence of those early sounds; early Balearic vibes and develop them with a Clandestino twist into contemporary club tracks. This EP is primarily aimed at the dancefloors for the summer, whether it be inside a club or under the stars.

If you had the chance to play this in any club, which would it be?

Actually we were lucky enough to test these out last summer at Space in Ibiza, that has to be up there with any club you’d want to play your music at. Great to get the chance to play them at the grand old club before it closed. We’re playing at Salon Zur Wilden Renate in Berlin this weekend which we’ve heard is a lot of fun, so we’re looking forward to what the reaction is there. Finally given the festival / summer feel of the EP we’d really love to give these a spin at Barbarellas, a beautiful open air club on the Adriatic coast in Croatia. Sorry that’s three answers, but there are three of us so you’re getting one each

Another Horizon is out 12th May 2017 on Vinyl only!
