Born Fourth is a brand new label that launches with a meaty Various Artist compilation. At nine tracks strong it showcases a real breadth and depth of talent and is a fine mission statement from the fledgling label. Coley & Daines, Shane Watcha, Dylan Debut, Geshe Ewing, Felipe Kastegliano, Dutchie, Jack On Black, STARK and Lo all feature, and are a mix of established names and fresher faced talents, but each one comes correct with their singular offerings.

Coley & Daines kick things off with the deep and freak tech vibes of Zelon Diggin, which is full of elastic drums and slithering alien sounds and really gets under your skin. Zombie Soundsystem boss Shane Watcha then goes dark with his Larry’s Paradise cut, full of desolate urban landscapes, spooky house grooves and shadowy vocal snippets.

Dylan Debut’s The Beast is a physical jack track with wonky bass and energetic stabs, Geshe Ewing keeps things firmly focussed on tight drum programming with his heads down effort and Felipe Kastegliano offers a naughty and unhinged track with manic electronics and raw beats encouraging you to cut loose. Dutchie enters into techno mode with his peak time and punchy effort Fucked By Friday then Jack On Black, STARK and Lo keep up the pressure with increasingly wild house tracks that are robust in their production and floor focussed in their grooves.

This is a fantastic first offering that means this label is well worth watching going forwards.

Describe the record in five words.
